It’s official. I totally suck at finishing beauty products. Whether it’s makeup, skincare or hair products I can’t stick it out to the end. I tend to ditch what I’m currently using to try new products and can’t commit to using the same items or brands day in day out. Let’s just say I like to mix it up.
A long time ago I set aside a box which I would put all my empty products in for a product empties blog post. Well it’s probably been like a year and to be honest I thought I would have used up more items by now! I also went through my makeup collection and put older items in arms reach in hope of finishing them off. Here’s what I managed to finish…
MASCARAS
My mascara stash was in great need of a clean out. Here’s the mascaras that needed to go. They were really old, starting to dry out and taking up space in my mascara draw.
Napoleon, Model Co & Model Co Lash Fibres Extension Mascaras- These 3 Mascaras were freebies off magazines so can’t really complain about quality. They worked ok but dried up rather quickly. My lash fibres mascara I barely used and the fibre side started to go fluffy. Repurchase? No. They were free for a reason.
Maybelline Lash Stiletto- I didn’t mind this mascara. It had a nice thin wand and brush which was great for the lower lashes. Repurchase? No. I still have the black Stiletto mascara which is similar.
Mirenesse & Eye of Horus- Both these Mascaras were ok for everyday wear. Though they didn’t give much length or volume. Repurchase? No. I prefer mascaras that give a more dramatic false lash look.
Benefit Fat Lash Mascara- I love mascaras which have big brushes like this one. It made my lashes thick and dark. Repurchase? No. I’d like to try Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara.
MIXED MAKEUP
The hardest of all products to finish off. A part of me is sad when the products are empty especially if they were good but on the other hand it’s an achievement. Plus it makes room for new products!
Avon Ideal Flawless Foundation & Extra Lasting Concealer- I really liked this foundation and concealer. They both matched my skin really well and gave a flawless coverage. They were reasonably priced too. Repurchase? No. I’m looking forward to trying some high end foundations and concealers.
Avon Magix Face Perfector & Lip Conditioner- The Avon face Perfector was one of my first ever primers. It was a great texture and felt smooth on the skin. The lip conditioner was one of my most purchased Avon products. It not only nourished but plumped my lips too. Repurchase? I used both of these for years. Would rather try newer products.
Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick No:40- I became quickly obsessed with this lipstick. It’s a very light nude similar to Mac Myth. Repurchase? Already have a backup waiting!
MAKEUP REMOVAL + WIPES
I prefer to use cleansing waters or makeup wipes to remove my makeup. As I remove my makeup every night these are probably my most used products.
Organic Surge Gentle Cleansing lotion- This bottle lasted me forever. It’s like a face moisturiser and makeup remover in one. I love that you don’t have to wash it off. Plus it’s organic. Repurchase? Yep if it’s on sale.
Sukin Micellar Cleansing Water- I hate to say that I was a bit dissapointed with this product. I found that it stung when used around the eye area and was not good at removing eye makeup. I did love the scent though and would be good used as a toner. Repurchase- No. Although I love other products by Sukin this one wasn’t for me.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- I’ve lost count on how many bottles of this miracle water I have used. It removes all my makeup with no irritation. The bottle contains a lot of product and is reasonably priced. Repurchase? Hell yes! I’ve already got another lined up.
Garnier Clean Sensitive Makeup Remover- I used to use this before micellar water became popular. It’s pretty good at removing makeup but does leave an oily residue. The 2 toned liquid is always fun to shake up. Repurchase? Nah. I prefer the Garnier Micellar Water.
Look who’s been hoarding empty makeup wipes! When it comes to removing my makeup I want something quick and easy. Makeup wipes are always a must have for me.
Crop & Model Co Exfoliating Wipes- These were great for exfoliating but not so great at removing makeup. I did love their larger size though! Repurchase? No, there not what I’m looking for.
Formula 10.0.6 Facial Wipes- I bought these during the Priceline 40% off skincare sale and they were pretty good. They were quite moist and smelled really nice. Repurchase? Yes, bring on the next Priceline skincare sale!
Neutrogena, Lacura (Aldi) & Swisspers Cleansing wipes- To be honest I can’t remember what these wipes were like. They mustn’t have been that fantastic otherwise I would remember. The Aldi ones are good value for money though! Repurchase? I’d probably buy the Aldi ones again. Bargain ballz!
SKINCARE
I mainly use my skincare at night after removing my makeup. I love my toners and moisturisers. Here’s what’s getting binned.
Avon Anew Vitale Night Cream & Solutions Day Cream- It seemed like it took forever to finish these. They both felt hydrating on the skin and have great anti-aging benefits. Repurchase? I now prefer to use more natural skincare so wouldn’t be interested in using these again.
Kit Cosmetics & Avon Xmas Handcream- I often forget to use hand creams. I had these sitting on my bedside table to remind me to use them! They both smelt delicious and were pretty effective on my dry hands. Repurchase? I probably would buy the Avon one again as it was only $2. The kit one was nice but I wouldn’t go out and buy another.
Avon Footworks Cracked Heel Relief Cream & Endota Moisturiser- I havn’t used many foot creams before but this one was pretty good. It was quite thick and absorbed quickly. The Endota moisturiser I used while on holiday in QLD. It had a nice natural smell and felt luxurious on the skin. Repurchase? No, I don’t use foot creams often and have other moisturisers I can use before buying any new ones!
Garnier Clean & Fresh Toner & Rosehip Plus Night Cream- Garnier was the first skincare I used as a young teenager. I loved the smell of this toner and it left my skin feeling just that, clean and fresh. The Rosehip Night Cream quickly became a favourite. It was nourishing and I love moisturisers with pumps! Repurchase? I’m currently using more natural toners and have been liking those better. I was lucky enough to receive a package from Rosehip Plus which included the night cream. Yaaaas!
HAIR PRODUCTS
I’ve got pretty long hair and its wavy/curly so can get a bit frizzy and cray cray at times. Which is understandable as it’s been through a lot.
Batiste Dry Shampoo- I’m obsessed with this stuff. It smells great, doesn’t leave white marks in your hair and it refreshes my hair really well between washes. Repurchase? It’s a keeper! I went and bought a fullsize.
PPS Classic Blonde Detangler- I got this off a friend when it was half full. It worked ok as a Detangler but did not tone or bighten my hair like it states on the bottle. Repurchase? No. I have regular detangling sprays that do a better job.
Organix Brazillian Keratin Therapy Flat Iron Spray- It took me a while to find a good spray to protect my hair when straightening. This one leaves hair nourished shiny and smelling good. I like that it’s made to be sprayed on dry hair too. Repurchase? After finishing some of my other hair products I would buy this again.
Toni & Guy Glamour Serum Drops- This little hair oil is the bomb. It takes my hair from shit to super with only a few drops. I just wish it was in a bigger bottle. Repurchase? Yes Yes Yes! It’s totally worth it.
Avon Advance Techniques 360 Nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil- I’ve been using this oil on and off since I was an Avon Rep. It works pretty good for the cheap price. I like applying this as a treatment in wet hair. Repurchase? No. I’m all Avoned out.
Well that’s all that was in my overflowing empties box. I’m looking forward to finishing some more products. Project pan here we come!
