Product Reviews

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to be one of the first to try products from the new range. I was kindly sent the foundation, lipstick, eyeshadow, correcting powder and volume mascara to review on the blog.

Foundation – 02 almond – RRP $69

They say good things come in small packages and for this new Dr.Hauschka foundation I can totally agree. Having tried a few natural foundations in the past I must say I was a little skeptical on how this foundation would perform.    The scent for one was beautiful not too organic or strong. The formula wasn’t too thick and applied well to the skin with a beauty blender and brush. Having only 7 shades in their range I wasn’t sure if Almond would suit my skin tone but was amazed how when applied it adjusted to match my skin. The coverage was light to medium and looked really natural and lasted well throughout the day with a setting spray. The nourishing natural ingredients of pomegranate, macadamia nut oil and coconut oil set it apart from other foundations on the market. The small  triangular shaped bottle was actually really comfortable to hold and would be perfect for travel. With a high end price point of $69 I would recommend trying a sample before commuting to a purchase. If you are looking for a foundation that is good for your skin, gives you a natural look while still giving buildable coverage this one is for you!

Lipstick – 13 bromelia – RRP $49

After applying this lipstick I would have never guessed that it was made with natural ingredients. The smooth formula was very comfortable on the lips and wasn’t drying or too thick. It had a semi sheen finish (not too glossy, not too matte) and lasted longer than I thought it would. Made with moisturising mineral pigments and botanical ingredients such as rose petals, almond oil and carnauba wax it felt much more nourishing than other lipsticks I’ve tried. The shade Bromelia is a nice neautral medium brown which is perfect for Autumn/Winter and will suit most skin tones. I was happy with the colour intensity when swatches and on the lips. The full lipstick range consists of 18 shades and like all of Dr.Haushka’s products they are cruelty free.

Eyeshadow – 02 lapis lazuli – RRP $34

I never used to be much of an eyeshadow girl until I learnt how best to apply it and that quality really does make a big difference. I’m a lover of neautral shades so was a bit afraid to try    this blue shade by Dr Haushka. In the pan it looks to be quite vibrant denim shade of blue with a slight sparkle. I must say I was pretty happy to see it includes a mini brush for application rather than those shitty sponge end applicators. Although I would use my own eyeshadow brush for this the mini brush would be perfect for travel. The formula combines mineral pigments, silk and nourishing botanical ingredients such as black tea to moisturise and soothe the delicate skin around the eyes. When applying one of the first things I noticed was the light beautiful scent. I did not notice any fall out and found it blended really easily. Once applied this shade looked more like a matte blue grey with no noticeable sparkle which is much more wearable than the bright blue I thought it would be!

Colour Correcting Powder – RRP $72

This was the product from Dr. Hauschka’s new makeup range I was most excited to try. Having never used a colour correcting powder before I was interested to see how it worked. The colourful mosaic design of the powder was what first attracted me and after using I am happy to say that the design stays put and doesn’t get ruined. The four translucent shades work together to reduce redness and lighten shadows on the skin. The texture of the powder is smooth and quite fine.It leaves the skin looking fresh and not cakey. I applied it lightly with a large fluffy brush as a setting powder over the Dr.Haushka foundation. If setting powders aren’t your thing it can also be used to correct your skin tone before applying liquid foundation. The finish of the powder is slightly luminous but still looks natural on the skin. It’s formula feautures beneficial plant extracts There’s no wondering why this product is already an award winner!

Volume Mascara – 03 plum
I have a whole draw in my acrylic makeup organiser dedicated to mascaras but would you believe that not one I own is coloured! I remember blue mascara being popular when I was a teenager but have noticed the trend coming back with many brands branching out with different coloured formulas. Dr Haushcka’s volume mascara comes in black, brown and plum. It has a thick classic shaped end and comes on a genourous 8ml size. The formulation combines mineral pigments with nourishing ingredients such as quince seed, silk and candelilla wax to envelop and protect every single lash. The purple colour wasn’t bright it was more of a purple black when on lashes. So I’d bright colour aren’t your thing this is actually really nice. The formula for me was volumising and was easy to build up for more dramatic lashes. The brush was easy to use and it dried quick on the lashes leaving no time for smudges!

For a natural makeup range I was really impressed with the quality of the products. The packaging was simple but stylish and the formulas actually lived up to their descriptions. In my eyes they are the high end of natural cosmetics. If your a lover of ethical and natural beauty Dr Hauschka is definitely worth a look at!

  1. I’m sorry but there’s no way that lipstick shade is Amaryllis, a cool summer red, more or less. This has to be Bromelia; more of a brown. A confusion probably happened between packaging. Please confirm this shade as I’d love to have it. Thanks. 😉

      1. Yayy, I’m super happy to hear this, as I was hoping it was***Bromelia***, since I took a chance and ordered it online. I should be getting it tomorrow.

This shade is what I’m looking for but was worried I’d get something else, as in pics it shows a brownish red. Here it shows a warm brown, not so much red based. Awesome. High five 🤚.
